The Shillong Golf Course

Owned by The Shillong Club is one of the oldest, longest and best National Golf circuit across the World, it is the third oldest Golf course in India and the first 18 holes course in Asia.Owing to its scenic beauty, LIS Golf Association & Museum has given it the title of “Gleneagles of the East” as a 9 hole Golf course in1898, its conversion into a18 hole course in 1924 was the initiative of Captain Jackson and C.K.Rhodes. The Shillong Golf Course is the third oldest Golf Course in India.

Located at an altitude of 4750 feet above mean sea level, it is the highest course in Asia. The Shillong Golf Course was originally developed as a nine hole Golf Course in 1878 by Messrs. J C Arbuthnoth and B C Allen (both ICS officers) at Laban, now called Garrison Ground and Hydari Park. The present course was upgraded to a 18 hole Golf Course sometime in 1924. The credit for laying this beautiful and picturesque course goes to Captain Jackson, Messrs. C K Rhodes and E L Walts. The Shillong Golf Course is laid in approximately 121 acres of land and is a 6081 yard, 18 hole par 70 Golf Course.We, at Shillong Club Ltd., are known to provide several facilities to our members with the annual membership programs. Our natural golf course was laid out back in 1889, between the tall and elegant pines at an altitude of 4350 ft.

The game of Golf 

A game of golf in company of friends and fellow players can be the best way to start the day. Our Golf course is an 18 holes (70 Par) course, referred as the “Gleneagle of the East” is owned and managed for the elite members of the club. We offer hours of the productive sport to official members of our club. From a growing adult to an elderly member, everybody has the access to the golf course anytime.
